 "On-wires Quidditch."

Early mock up of the stadium interior

From an initial pitch by Architect Maeda Toshio and developed by construction design expert Shiro Masamune, the indoors "On-wires" Quidditch game allows two teams of players to enjoy a real-life, in flight, game of Quidditch featuring every aspect of the game from the imagination of creator and author J K Rowling.

The rules are almost identical to the description in Rowling's famous Harry Potter series of childrens' novels, with Beaters, Keepers, Chasers and the two Seekers all having their parts to play.

The design of the flying "on-wires" Broomsticks is the real secret behind the unprecedented success and popularity of the game.

Actual size replica Broomsticks are suspended on high tensile steel wires from the circular ceiling and are controlled from a joystick within the shaft of the broomstick allowing complete freedom of movement and altitude within the orb shaped playing arena. A strong nylon safety net is stretched across the ground three metres above the floor level so even falling from your broomstick has been made safe.
The Quaffle is dropped from the centre of the ceiling and the game begins. Scoring is accomplished by throwing the Quaffle through one the three hoops at either end of the playing area.
Light weight Bludgers are fired by compressed air from random holes in the walls of the stadium and can come from anywhere at any time, though only two Bludgers are in game at any one time.

The Golden snitch is also launched by compressed air from the same random locations as the Bludgers though this can happen at any time during the game. If it is not caught by either of the playing Seekers the Snitch will be allowed to fall out of play until the next time it is launched by random computer control.

Broomstick blueprint design

Each broomstick has a remote control directional thumb stick and an acceleration / brake finger trigger that allows total control while in flight.

"Quite simply, On-wires Quidditch has to be played to be believed, and once you've played you won't want to go home." - International Gaming Press.
